Wrexham have posted record revenues during the last financial year. The Welsh club posted revenues of around $7.2 million for the year ending last summer. This is an increase of 404% compared to last season.

Most of this boost can be attributed to overall matchday revenue, as well as jersey sales and sponsorships. The club has seen a surge in popularity thanks to the popular television show ‘Welcome to Wrexham’. The show, produced by the American network FX, has been a huge success since its debut.

However, the show and the team’s recent success in the National League comes after the final financial time frame has ended. This means that the club can expect higher revenues for the next financial year.

Owners lose nearly $4 million during the past fiscal year

Despite the record turnover, Wrexham’s owners lost a combined around $3.7 million during the 2021/2022 season. Hollywood duo Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds previously purchased the team in late 2020.

Club officials have attributed this figure to the rise in player wages and overall rising operating costs.

As well as buying the club, McElhenney and Reynolds also spent millions to buy The Racecourse Ground. This investment also included plans to improve the dilapidated stadium.

Regardless of the losses, the owners are not going anywhere. The duo intend to continue funding Wrexham well into the future. The directors have issued a statement on the latest financial findings. “We remain committed to playing a full part in the life of the club and making a positive difference, in every way possible, for the benefit of everyone in this beautiful place that we hold dear,” said the declaration. rack read.

Wrexham’s popularity is booming

The high-profile new owners have certainly had a huge impact on the club’s global popularity. In fact, Wrexham recently published statistics that showed how much the club has grown in recent years.

A huge increase in social media followers was seen across the board. In February, the club surpassed the mark of 1.5 million followers on all social media portals. This included adding 500,000 new combined followers between December and February.

Wrexham currently lead the National League. Promotion to League Two would give the club an even bigger boost towards next season.
