If you’re watching the England vs France World Cup 2022 game and wondering who the ITV commentators are, we’ve got you covered.

Sam Matterface and Lee Dixon are behind the microphone for this quarterfinal encounter.

Sam Matterface is ITV’s chief commentator and became the chief match commentator for England in 2020. He previously worked on TalkSport and was a Sky Sports News presenter for three years.

Former England international Lee Dixon won four English titles with Arsenal and made 22 appearances for his country. He has appeared on both ITV and BBC as a commentator and pundit, most recently appearing on Channel 4’s Nations League coverage.

In the studio, Mark Pougatch presents with Ian Wright, Roy Keane and Gary Neville as the experts. In addition, Laura Woods is on the field with Jill Scott and Eniola Aluko.

Former BBC 5 Live fixture Pougatch moved to ITV in 2015 and will be the lead anchor for his third World Cup when he leads the channel’s coverage in Qatar. Pougatch co-headlined ITV’s coverage of the Six Nations Rugby Championship with BT’s BT Sports To score show too.

Much-loved former striker Ian Wright was Arsenal’s record goalscorer until his record was surpassed by Thierry Henry in 2005. He also played for Celtic, West Ham United and Burnley — and famously only turned professional in his early 20s after being a bricklayer before getting his chance at football.

Since retiring as a player, Wright has appeared on ITV, BBC, Sky and BT Sport, most recently being a pundit at Women’s Euro 2022.

Roy Keane captained Manchester United and won seven Premier League titles in just 12 seasons at Old Trafford. The only World Cup Keane went to was in 1994 in the US: the Irishman infamously left the camp ahead of the 2002 tournament after an argument with manager Mick McCarthy.

Keane is a regular on Sky Sports and is known for his dry humour, grumpy attitude and impassioned analysis. He has appeared sporadically over the years on ITV tournaments and Champions League coverage, despite once claiming, “Every time I watch a match on television, I have to switch off the commentators.”

Gary Neville is a former Manchester United captain who won two Champions League trophies and eight Premier League titles in over 600 appearances. A man with one club for his club, he achieved 85 caps for England before becoming an assistant coach in the national line-up. Later he led Valencia.

Neville has been one of Sky Sports’ leading analysts since 2011. He first took notice on ITV before the 2002 World Cup in which he was injured, and has since appeared in tournaments for the channel. He is known for his football intelligence and leftist views, opposing the Super League and irresponsible ownership in football.

Laura Woods is a familiar face to ITV Sports and Sky Sports viewers, as well as a presenter on TalkSport. An Arsenal fan, Woods left Sky this year and currently works for DAZN, as part of their coverage of boxing and the Women’s Champions League, among other things.

Eni Aluko is the sporting director of the Angel City women’s team in the United States. She has competed in three World Cups for England, in the 2012 Olympics for Great Britain, winning over 100 caps — she has also represented Chelsea and Juventus at club level.

Aluko has done expert work for the likes of BT Sport and Amazon Prime since he retired from playing. She is also a familiar face in women’s football coverage on ITV.

Jill Scott retired from football after winning the Women’s Euro 2022 with England at Wembley this summer. The second most capped England player ever, she has played for Sunderland, Everton, Manchester City and Aston Villa in an 18-year career, which has seen her win four FA Cups and one Women’s Super League trophy. She joined the ITV team after winning I’m a celebrity, get me out of here early in the tournament.

The coverage of the World Cup matches is split between the BBC and ITV in the UK, with Alan Shearer, Micah Richard and Alex Scott among the BBC pundits.
