The Golden State Warriors are the defending NBA champions, but certainly didn’t look like it this season. They have struggled to find consistency on the pitch, picking up two injuries to Stephen Curry as they try to compete and develop at the same time.
Relying on the younger players to step into bigger roles has backfired on Golden State and it sounds like they are ready to make some changes. To stay competitive and compete again, the Warriors could be open to moving some of their younger players to more established talent.
While Jonathan Kuminga was considered off limits by the Warriors, James Wiseman and Moses Moody were reportedly available in trade talks. It sounds like Golden State is on its way to pulling the trigger on a deal that could revolve around Wiseman.
According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports, the Warriors are in talks with the Detroit Pistons over a Saddiq Bey deal. The Pistons have an interest in 2020 NBA Draft №2 Wiseman, and he could be part of the deal returning to Motor City.
Based on Fischer’s report, it sounds like the Warriors are going to make a deal today; it’s just a matter of which team they’ll complete it with. Landing Bey would certainly bolster the team’s wing rotation behind Andrew Wiggins and Klay Thompson.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Saddiq Bey, Detroit Pistons, James Wiseman & Golden State Warriors Updates
Bey is in his third season in the NBA, as he was selected 19th in the same draft as Wiseman. But he has far surpassed his draft mate, proving durable throughout his career to date, appearing in 204 games.
The Villanova product has shown some scoring prowess as a professional, averaging 14.5 points per game. Surrounded by more talent and playmaking, there would certainly be optimism that he can improve his efficiency.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Saddiq Bey, Detroit Pistons, James Wiseman & Golden State Warriors Updates
His 84.3 percent free throw percentage gives some hope that in the right situation, he could get things on track from 3-point range. There wouldn’t be a much better atmosphere for figuring things out offensively than with the Warriors.
