The NBA recently announced that they have imposed a suspension on Miles Bridges. He will be suspended for 10 games during the 2023/24 season, should he sign with a team by then, without pay due to some off-the-field issues he ran into in 2022.
The suspension was supposed to be for 30 games, but the league gave him time served. Miles Bridges sat out the entire 2022–23 season as he remained unsigned after the Charlotte Hornets made him a qualifying offer.
League Commissioner Adam Silver revealed what it took to find out how long he would be suspended and how they came up with the time served. Being sidelined all season and not getting paid played a big part.
“The process (with Bridges) was that we worked with his representatives and the players union that he served all season.” said Silver. “And so we felt, on the balance sheet, that because he had been sitting out for a whole season and not being paid for a whole season, we thought in fairness that he would get partial credit, I think, for being that season served.”
