Jordan Clarkson and the Utah Jazz have agreed on a three-year, $55 million renegotiating and renewal deal, according to NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic. Clarkson picked up his 2023–24 player option with the Jazz instead of free agency testing.
Clarkson played in 61 games for the Jazz last season. He averaged 20.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists while shooting 44.4% from the floor, 33.8% from outside the arc, and 81.6% from the free throw line.
In April, Clarkson told Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports he likes to play for the Jazz.
“I love Utah,” Clarkson told Deveney. “But I mean, it’s a business. I understand. It’s not for us to pack our things and enjoy a different experience everywhere, but the most important thing for us is, you know, the love and support I felt here. Utah, it was amazing and that’s probably the biggest thing that would have hurt just leaving because of all the relationships and things we’ve built.
Clarkson has career averages of 15.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists with the Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Jazz. He won the 2020–21 Sixth Man of the Year Award with Utah after averaging 18.4 points.

The Lakers, who drafted Clarkson, were interested in trading for the scoring guard at the 2023 trade deadline. However, the Jazz held on to him. An NBA executive told Deveney in April that Clarkson’s summer market may not have been as good. Maybe that’s why Clarkson didn’t become a free agent.
“But a lot of teams will say, ‘He’s 30 and he scores a lot and doesn’t play good defense.’ That’s the problem for Clarkson,” an NBA executive told Deveney. “Because most of the teams that are going to say that about him are the ones with cap space, the ones that could actually give him a good contract.”

Clarkson will continue his career with the Jazz, who missed the playoffs last season after trading All-Stars Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert last summer.
