As the 2022/23 Premier League season draws to a close, the final financial packages are being shared between the clubs. Broadcasting revenue and prize money provide much of the change in England’s top flight. In fact, over $3 billion will be split between the 20 teams. This also includes the three relegation clubs.

Each Premier League team distributes the basic broadcasting rights payments each season. This is worth over $100 million for the current campaign. Additional revenue is then added to each club based on how often their matches are selected for live TV.

Man City lead the pack in EPL earnings

Unsurprisingly, Manchester City brought in the most money of the Premier League clubs. The Citizens recently clinched their fifth league title in six seasons under manager Pep Guardiola. In total, the club receives about 210 million dollars from the top flight division. This doesn’t even include Champions League earnings. City have already guaranteed around $111 million just to make it to the tournament final against Inter Milan.

According to the Mirror, Champions League qualification could be worth around $124 million to any English club. That means that City, Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle will bring in even more money soon. Conversely, the disappointing seasons of Chelsea and Liverpool will certainly have financial consequences.

Recently relegated clubs Leicester, Leeds and Southampton will each receive more than $150 million as a parting gift. However, the trio will clearly make significantly less money in the second tier Championship next season.

Premier League TV revenue higher than competitors

For example, compared to LaLiga, current champions Barcelona received $170 million in TV revenue after the 2021/22 season. As you can see from the top 20 Premier League list above, almost every team in the English top flight generates more TV revenue than the best team in Spain.
