The Milwaukee Bucks defeated the New Orleans Pelicans on the NBA Sunday slate, 135–110. New Orleans were very understaffed for the game as they played without Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum, and Zion Williamson was left sidelined.
Dominant in front was Giannis Antetokounmpo. He took full advantage of the fact that the Pelicans were short, as they had no answers for the Greek Freak. Antetokounmpo scored 50 points in the game, the fifth time in his career in the regular season and the second time this month.
Right from the opening tip, it felt like Sunday was going to be another special day for Antetokounmpo. He got off to a hot start and never cooled down, making 20 of 26 shot attempts, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range. It took him just 30 minutes to score his 50 points while adding 13 rebounds and four assists for a full statistic.
Point guard Jrue Holiday spoke highly of the performance. He himself scored 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
“It’s a Great Time,” holiday said. “Everyone just sits on their shoulders and we just go along. At that point, we just have to support him. If he passes it on to us, shoot. But for the most part, we know who is going to carry us.”

Big score nights are becoming commonplace for Antetokounmpo. He has scored at least 30 points in 24 of his 39 starts this season as he remains arguably the hardest player in the NBA to slow down on any given night.
“Tonight I think 50 on 26 shots is impressive,” said Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer. “Everything he did, his aggressiveness. A few 3s, especially late. But he shoots well. It feels like there are a few more catches and shots, if we can generate some for him and build confidence in that area, keep moving to the free throw line and keep working on that, those are areas where he’s improving .”
While Sunday’s performance was impressive, he already turned his attention to the Bucks’ next opponent, the Charlotte Hornets.

Despite having one of the worst records in the NBA, Charlotte found a way to slow down Antetokounmpo in their final meeting as he only scored nine points in a 29-point loss. You can bet he’s looking to get some revenge for that match, as back-to-back 50-point performances would be a nice feather in his cap.
