Castore co-founder Tom Beahon has revealed that the brand plans to make football boots in the future, although no specific details or timeframes have been given.

As a supplier of football kits for teams such as Newcastle United, Wolves, Aston Villa, Sevilla and Rangers, Castore has disrupted the manufacturing market since first entering professional football in 2020. And now the brand plans to enter the football boot market as well.

Speak against The athleticBeahon opened up about the brand’s future ambitions, but declined to disclose specific information.

“I can’t tell you anymore or I’m going to get shot by my product team,” said Tom Beahon.

Given Castore’s rapid growth since it was founded in July 2015, it is likely that football boots emblazoned with the company’s logo will be in circulation as soon as possible.

Castore currently has 24 team partnerships across five different sports, sponsoring the cricket teams of England, South Africa and the West Indies, Formula 1 teams McLaren and Red Bull Racing, among others, with athletes such as tennis star Andy Murray and Olympic champion swimmer Adam Peaty all also included endorse the brand.

It also recently announced multi-year agreements with the Football Association of Ireland (FAI), Athletic Bilbao and Feyenoord, underlining Castore’s desire to continue on its upward growth trajectory.

Consumers will be eager to see Castore’s entry into the football boot market, whenever that may be, after some questionable hiccups this season.

In a Premier League match between Aston Villa and Wolves in January, the shirt worn by Nelson Semedo had the Wolves crest printed upside down, sparking widespread ridicule online.

Earlier this season Ivan Rakitic of Sevilla even wore a shirt on which the club crest was not visible. However, Beahon is not concerned about these blunders, suggesting that there are ongoing problems for manufacturers.

“Castore has not had more problems than Nike, Adidas or Puma in terms of supply chain or quality,” he said.

“We’re only judged by a slightly different and higher standard because we’re the new guy who’s come on the scene and are working with some big, high-profile clubs. It almost feels like some people want to say, ‘We knew those guys were too good to be true and what they were doing wasn’t sustainable,” so every time there’s a little problem, people would rather put the disruptor down than encourage you.

“I don’t think that’s unique to Castore or the sportswear market; it’s just one of the crosses you have to wear as the new man.”
